just had a thought - this probably isn't doing much for the Lyme Regis tourist trade! that is not my intention, it's a great place and I'm hoping to return for xmas and new year

one day someone decided to collect some the beach detritus and start assembling it into a sculpture around a huge piece of driftwood, as the days went on...

 more and more pieces were added by other people (including me) as they passed by

anti tank blocks (detail) , Kimmeridge Bay, Dorset

"near the pillbox are 2 anti-tank blocks blocking the exit from the beach at Gaulter's Gap. both are approximately 4ft square and are spaced approx 3 ft apart. both blocks protrude 2ft - 2.5ft above beach surface. 2ft apex constructed on top"

world war 2 pillbox, Kimmeridge Bay, Dorset

i gleaned the following information from a website that has photographs and details of all the remaing pillboxes in the uk: "a type 25 pillbox is now situated 15 feet from the eroding cliff edge. the entrance is 26ins wide x 39ins high; walls 11ins thick; height of structure 7ft 3ins; concrete raft 9ins thick; 4 embrasures 9ins high x 12ins wide at front, tapering inside. It has a concrete roof laid on corrugated iron sheeting"
 
and you thought taking photographs of rust was odd!
